Our New Doggie

Yes, she is walking!

Yes, Shana is walking. She still falls down often but is getting very good at it. It is so cute to see her toddling along in the house.

Hats

It's all about hats lately.

Great Helper in the Kitchen

Shana has learned to help empty our dishwasher.

Shana walking (sort of)

A video clip from 10 days ago here. She looks like a dance. She has been taking more and more steps day by day.

Milestones and More

Shana started taking steps about 2 weeks ago. She took 6 steps today. She is still very wobbly but getting the hang of it for sure.

She also got a top left molar, which temporarily disrupted her sleep pattern, but she seems to be back to normal for the past few days. Unfortunately, she is still waking up around 4 am, and we don't know whatever happened to the angel that used to sleep through the night. I guess it's not too bad. Daddy changes her diaper and gives her a bottle at 4 am, and she goes right back to sleep until 7, so we shouldn't complain too much. Hopefully, she will go back to REALLY sleeping through the night soon.

She continues to eat like a horse. She has her first breakfast at 7:30, second breakfast at 9:30, lunch at 11:30, a snack at 3:30, another snack at 5:30, and dinner at 6:30. It seems like she is always eating. No wonder why she weighs 27lb! She also poops 2-3 times a day. She is definitely not fuel efficient like our Prius. Daddy called Shana a Hummer the other day, and she did look like a Hummer when she was crawling next to another crawling baby. We would never buy a Hummer, but we love our little Hummer girl.

Hello Kitty

Shana loved the Hello Kitty shopping cart at a Japanese grocery store, Nijiya. She was so cute in it!

Progress with Signing

Shana is not much of a talker yet, but she can tell us what she wants by signing. She is pretty bossy I have to say.

The words Shana can sign are
milk
more
daddy (She learned this sign before she learned to sign mommy. This made Dada's day.)
yummy
phone
bath
night night
drink
eat
hungry
mommy

I think I need to study more signs myself. My sign language vocabulary is not much bigger than what she already knows.

Growing Hair

Shana's hair is growing pretty quickly. When she had very little hair, it felt like it wasn't growing fast enough, but now it feels like the opposite. So last weekend we bought our lady a hair clip with a fancy bow. She looks adorable but I tell you those things are expensive....

Shana's first car

Yes, I admit that I am not a big plastic toy lover but this pink car is entirely a different matter. It was a gift from Shana's grandparents in Ireland for her first birthday. We call it Booboo, which means a car in Japanese, well at least that's what Japanese babies say. When I ask our lady if she wants to ride in her Booboo, she gets very excited and crawls over to her booboo. We go for a spin around the house and then outside. The Booboo rocks!

Teething Update

Shana has 4 teeth now, 2 top and 2 bottom. She has been biting everything, anything, and everybody. Here she was biting Auntie Suzanne's finger.
We can see 4 more coming. They are coming pretty fast, considering she had none just a month ago!

Birthday Dinner

Daddy took Shana and Mommy to Mama's Fish House, a gorgeous seafood restaurant in Maui.
Shana tried banana ice cream for the first time but didn't like it. It was probably too cold.
This is a dessert that we will not forget. The black pearl made of chocolate moose was sitting in seashell-shaped cookies. Shana's first taste of chocolate...yummy...
